| IDuring systole, the left ventricle contracts, forcing blood through the Aortic Valve to provide the body with oxygen-rich blood. As the blood exits the aortic valve, you can see that the Aortic Valve is not opening fully, and turbulence is created. (Red sprials indicating turbulence) This turbulence is what causes the murmur. |
