Treatment
Life quality in asymptomatic patients may continue actively. However, certain precautions should be taken: Athletes in particular should be diagnosed and monitored carefully since the fundamental condition cannot be cured. Antibiotic prophylaxis is advised for dental surgery. Secondary symptoms may be treated with drug therapy:

Beta-blockers: to slow the heart and reduce the force of contraction
(To relieve breathlessness, chest pain, palpation)
Calcium Antagonists:  Improves the filling of the heart, relieves symptoms as with beta-blockers.
Anti-Arrhythmic drugs
Diuretics

Surgical intervention may be considered in the pediatric population and in patients with severe degree of HCM.

Pacemakers and automatic implantable defibrillators may be considered.

Alcohol Septal Ablation is a new treatment that is showing promising results. (See http://www.hcma-heart.com/treatment.html to learn more about this)
